Born in Colombia and raised abroad, Mauricio Esquenazi resides in Miami. His travels and love of experiencing other cultures have defined his style and inspired him to create a line of swim and resort wear loved by women around the world. Mauricio grew up running up and down his family’s swimwear and lingerie factory in Colombia. He developed a love for clothing design and committed himself to learning the family business. His passion for the fashion industry and family ties served as the foundation for the creative development of Peixoto™, his own swimwear line.
The name Peixoto™ (pronounced pay-show-toe) originates from a play on Mauricio’s family name and the Portuguese word peix, meaning "fish". The fusion of the word Peixoto™ is the inspiration for his fashion aesthetics—a name that evokes thoughts of elegance and sophistication, combined with the element of water and love of the sun, resulting in striking designs with tremendous appeal.
