When we started Wallaroo 19 years ago, I was sure of our purpose — to craft sun-protective hats that make you look and feel great. Inspired by visits to my husband’s family in Australia — where the threat of skin cancer has long been understood — I wanted to share that awareness far and wide. From our home base in Colorado, we focus on quality craftsmanship and functional, fashionable designs — adjustable, packable and comfortable.
Business with purpose is a mighty goal – here is how we do it:
Skin Cancer Education and Prevention
Our mission all along has been to help eliminate the threat of skin cancer through information and prevention. As a leader in the sun-protective hat industry, Wallaroo takes this health threat very seriously. All of our hats are tested and rated according to their UV-blocking capabilities. Our dedication to this effort is the driving force behind both the design of our hats and our involvement and contribution to philanthropic efforts within the community.
There is greater strength in numbers. Here at Wallaroo, we believe that we can more powerfully change the world for the better when our efforts are combined with those of like-minded companies. In 2016, Wallaroo Hat Company joined the ranks as a Certified B Corporation®. We invested significant time and energy into improving our organization to meet nonprofit B Lab’s rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
Finally, we wouldn’t be where we are today without our amazing team. We take pride in creating an environment where our employees feel vested in their jobs and are happy to come to work each day. During the course of each year, Wallaroo holds several team-building activities that support causes we feel passionate about. These experiences allow our employees to bond together, as well as witness the direct impact that Wallaroo has on the community – often while interacting with our loyal customers.
Thank you for helping us to continue these efforts by supporting Wallaroo Hat Company. As we like to say, “It’s a Sunny Life. Wear Your Hat.”
